Rank tracking software for travel SEO
On the go. Everywhere. People travel, and STAT follows.
STAT was designed for travel. No, really. Many of our earliest clients were online travel companies.
They played a huge role in the evolution of STAT into a rank tracking and SERP analytics service that’s perfect for travel SEO.
Today, our client roster includes some of the biggest players in travel and hospitality. They came to us largely through word-of-mouth, as in-house SEO teams across the industry look for fresher, more comprehensive insight into travel SERPs.
“A must-have for any enterprise SEO campaign.”
We operate on a global scale, so the providers we use need to be able to handle massive amounts of data.

Big challenges, huge SERP data
The first thing that brings travel SEO teams to STAT is scale. Very simply, STAT is massive.
We built STAT with the idea that it should be cost-efficient and ridiculously simple to track thousands—even millions—of keywords in markets and locations all around the planet.
With so many points of sale, destinations, and travel products—and so many long-tail and multi-lingual searches to account for—scale is something that no travel SEO team can ignore.
In STAT, there is literally no limit on how many keywords you can track every day. And we track all across the world, in every single country and language that’s served by Google.
Track SERPs like a real local
Of course, in travel SEO, where people are searching is often just as important as which keywords they’re using.
With that reality in mind, STAT became the first rank tracking platform to introduce local SERP monitoring all across Earth. Our travel and hospitality clients are able to track pin-point local search results by city, state, province, ZIP code, postal code, neighbourhood, and more.
That includes Google Flight Search and other Google universal results like places, map, videos, images, and shopping, all of which STAT reports right alongside organic search results.
“STAT is the most accurate ranking tool I have ever worked with.”
Advanced features and very easy to use.

As Google claims more and more real estate on travel SERPs for its own commercial search tools, it’s critical that the industry has an accurate understanding of the penetration of these universal results into local search queries. STAT has been tracking them from the beginning.
What about location mismatches?
More than any other industry, travel and hospitality SEO teams need to think about what happens when a search query’s geo-modification and geo-location don’t match.
The distinction can be extremely important. What happens, for example, when someone in New York is looking for [best luxury hotels in London]? Or when somebody in Vancouver, Canada is looking for cross-border deals on international flights departing from Tacoma, Washington?
STAT is built to accommodate all of these unique SERP tracking situations and allows you to segment and blend geo-modified and geo-located search queries freely. When logistics are critical, this kind of flexibility matters.
Keep tabs on all of that data
When you’re doing SERP tracking on such a large scale, great management, segmentation, and alerting is critical.
In STAT, you can tag your keywords with aany number of custom tags. These are essentially custom segments that you can use to slice and dashboard your keywords in any number of ways—for example, by departure, by destination, by hotel rating, by package type, by searcher intent, or by any other factor that’s important to your strategy.
“Our ability to monitor the performance of large sites, especially in retail and travel, is incredible.”

Strategy Director, Roast

There are also dynamic tags, which work much like smart playlists. They’re automatically populated with keywords based on simple, logical rules.
For example, you could create a dynamic tag that contains all of your keywords with search volume over a million or a CPC value over $5.00. As search volumes and CPC numbers are updated, the keywords within the dynamic tag will update as well.
Finally, STAT’s custom alerts can be a lifesaver for SEO teams that are tracking many thousands of keywords. Alerts can be based on any tag, keyword, or site, and are completely customizable. Since fresh search data arrives every single day in STAT, if you’re clever in setting up your alerts, you’ll always be the first to know and the first to take action when change happens on travel and hospitality SERPs.
Common Questions
from travel & hospitality SEO teams
-
Our booking revenue depends on some very high-value keywords. How can STAT help protect my top rankings?
With fresh daily SERP data on a massive scale, you’ll be in a better position than anyone to see change happening and act first.
Concerned that you’ll be overwhelmed by all of that data and miss something important? That’s where our instant, custom alerts come in.
Alerts are completely customizable, giving you the power to monitor all of the metrics that matter most to your project and to set your own performance thresholds and comparison timeframes. You can create alerts based on any site, custom keyword segment, or individual keyword.
If you’re clever in setting up your alerts, it’s like having a little army of sidekicks keeping an eye on your most important keywords, 24 hours a day.

Google Flight Search and other universal results are taking over my SERPs. Can STAT help us adapt?
STAT collects every top-100 organic result and universal result on Google SERPs, and parses all of the relevant data like ranking URL, result title, result description, and so on.
That makes it straightforward to see which keyword spaces are now dominated by Google’s commercial search products. And since you’re getting daily updates, you’ll be the first to know when Google is moving in to new territories.
If you want to ignore universal results to focus strictly on your organic performance, we report both Google rank (including universal) and Google base rank (excluding universal).
For deeper research into Google universal results, some of our larger clients choose to use our separate, specialty bulk API services for full Adwords ads, full parsed SERP archives, or raw HTML SERPs. These are billed extra by site, and are completely separate from our standard tracking service and API.

New travel search sites are popping up all of the time. Can STAT give us insights into competitors?
Our top-ten competitor analysis is a completely transparent, data-driven, and unbiased view of who is actually competing with you in your keyword space in Google and Bing.
It’s a straightforward top-ten ranking based on how frequently competitor sites appear near the top of the SERPs you’re monitoring. STAT does this automatically once per week for every site you’re tracking.
What’s really powerful about this analysis is that it isn’t just for the whole site: STAT also generates a ranking of your top competitors for every custom segment (i.e. tag or data view) that you’ve created. That means you can see your top competitors for any subset of keywords—whether they are segmented by destination, by searcher intent, by CPC value, by search volume, or by anything you can dream up.
That’s a standard part of our keyword tracking and doesn’t cost anything extra.
Optionally, you can also do full-scale tracking of competitor websites — you only ever pay for the keywords you track. (For example, if you were to track the same 1000 search queries against 10 different websites, then we would count that as 1000 unique keywords and 9000 duplicate keywords. Those duplicate keywords are billed at a much lower rate than unique keywords.)
-
How do you handle geo-located versus geo-modified search queries?
STAT supports both, and allows you to blend the two freely depending on your industry and your specific needs.
The two terms are commonly confused:- Geo-modification is the use of geographical terms by the searcher in the search term itself. For example, [Vancouver auto insurance].
- Geo-location is the effect of location services on search results. For example, when a person in Vancouver searches for [auto insurance] and Google serves them Vancouver-specific results.
The distinction can be very important. As one example, our travel industry clients often need to track search queries where the geo-modification and the geo-location do not match (e.g. someone in New York looking for [best luxury hotels in London]).
-
How many countries and languages does STAT support?
We’re able to track in every market and language that Google supports across the globe. Thanks to our clients, we are now actively tracking in over 100 nations.
To avoid any confusion, please note that the STAT web app itself is available only in English. For easier collaboration between international teams, we give our clients the ability to import translations of their search terms in any language.
-
How many locations can I actually track in STAT?
Our platform is able to track local SERPs at any scale, all across the globe. (In fact, we were the first to be able to do so, and we still do it at a larger scale than anyone else.)
Unlike some of the other guys, we never put an artificial ceiling on how many locations you can track.
Again, you only pay for the keywords you track. You could track 10,000 search terms in one city, or one search term in 10,000 locations, and they would both cost the same.
We support every country, language, and location that Google does—including states, provinces, counties, cities, ZIP codes, postal codes, and so on.
-
Tell me more about your API.
Absolutely. For security reasons, we have a soft ceiling on API calls, but if you need to do more, we just raise the ceiling for you.
Some of our larger clients choose to use our separate, specialty bulk API services for Adwords ads, full parsed SERP archives, or raw HTML SERPs. These are billed extra by site and are completely separate from our standard, no-holds-barred API.
-
How much extra do you charge per user?
Nothing at all! We believe that the best SEO happens when people are free to collaborate. So we never charge per seat.
Every STAT client gets uncapped user accounts for their team and for their clients.
-
How much do additional search engines cost?
Nothing! You always get daily rankings in Google and Bing for a single per-keyword rate.
-
How can I use custom alerts?
When you’re tracking thousands of keywords for multiple web domains, instant alerts can be a lifesaver and a major competitive advantage.
In STAT, fresh search data arrives every single day. So if you’re clever in setting up your alerts, you’ll always be the first to know and the first to take action when change happens on the SERPs.
Alerts are completely customizable, giving you the power to monitor the metrics that matter most to your project and to set your own performance thresholds and comparison timeframes.
You can create alerts based on any of the site and keyword data that STAT collects for you, including individual keywords, custom keyword segments, and whole-site metrics.
-
What about Google universal results like images, maps, and news? How do you keep up?
It’s our job to keep up! Our platform not only captures known types of Google universal results, it also alerts us the moment Google releases a new result type. So you can always rely on STAT’s reporting to keep pace with changes to how Google is building SERPs.
STAT collects all Google universal results and reports on relevant data like ranking, landing page URL, result title, result description, and so on.
Why are universal results so important? Very simply, because they compete for real estate with organic search results. If you’re only tracking organic results, you’re only getting half of the picture.
-
What if I need to track over 100,000 keywords? How does your pricing scale?
STAT is designed especially for enterprise-scale SERP tracking.
If your tracking needs are huge, don’t worry — we can handle it. Our clients include some of the world’s largest online brands, tracking thousands of domains and locations globally.
Our pricing model is different than what you might expect from conventional enterprise software. We want to encourage all of our clients to think bigger and track more widely than ever before, so our per-keyword rates are highly competitive.
In fact, if you plan on tracking more than 100,000 unique search queries, ask us about special pricing and our bulk API services.
(For deeper custom research, some of our larger clients choose to use our separate, specialty bulk API services for full Adwords ads, full parsed SERP archives, or raw HTML SERPs. These are billed extra by site, and are completely separate from our standard API.)
-
How can I get all of my data out of STAT?
In the STAT web app, it’s as simple as right-clicking on any table to export as a CSV spreadsheet. You can also create scheduled reports so that all of your key data is exported to spreadsheets regularly.
For higher-volume exporting, we have the API. That also allows you to integrate STAT’s metrics into your own internal data warehousing.
